Make a Decision

What is it that you decided you wanted to work on for the remainder of 2015? Whatever you have decided to accomplish, the most important step is to decide what you are going to do. Without clarity on what you want to do, you will not be able to begin the planning process and you will be delaying your own progress.

Scenario:
Decision: You want a promotion at your job (whether the position is available or not). Now you are able to begin the planning process of what the requirements are for this new position.
Planning Questions: What personal/professional development do I need to participate in to make myself more qualified? Are there opportunities to volunteer at work to build relationships with key players? Look for leadership opportunities at the next company meeting, etc.
Action, This is where opportunity meets preparation:
When you make a decision and begin to move toward it, the universe moves with you. How and when it will happen is none of your business. The worst thing you can do is to wait for the position to become open to try to do the above planning. By then, its too late. I guarantee there will be a person that applied the decision and planning process in order to prepare for the moment that the position becomes available; and management has noticed.

See what can happen if you drop the ball on decision making?

No matter what your goal is, there are certain steps that are applied in order to help you effectively and efficiently get to the finish line. The first step is to decide what you want to do...

Get yourself a notebook and brainstorm on what it is that you want for yourself. Dont overwhelm yourself with the how and when. Just decide...
